SHARED STRATEGIES:

Single Moms Ministry

Debbie Martindale – Single Moms Flock, Henderson Hills Baptist Church, Edmond, Oklahoma

Strategy:
Prayer life, financial control, and finding contentment

Vision Statement:
It is my belief that the way to contentment with new circumstances as a single mom starts with becoming strong in Christ through prayer. What we give our attention too shapes our hearts and our character.

Another strategy for my Flock has been financial control. We have held a couponing class for our moms that was very successful. I recently read a book by Adam Hamilton, "Enough". This is an amazing book about discovery joy through simplicity and generosity. What I have to share with all single parents is directly from his book..."Lord, help me to be grateful for what I have, to remember that I don't need most of what I want, and that joy is found in simplicity and generosity".

Another book that I have yet to teach on is Anne Graham Lotz book "Why". This book will help to trust God when you just don't understand WHY. The book will help to keep trusting God when bad things are happening all around them, when the pain is sharp and the doubt is deep. This book will be instrumental in helping single parents see the sense in it all.

Read, Read, Read, and then share what I gained from the books with my Flock, who schedules sometimes don't allow for the luxury of reading outside parental duties.

EXPENSES:
My books have all been purchased in Oklahoma's Christian bookstore, Mardel's on the discounted book shelves.

RESOURCES:
"Enough", Adam Hamilton
" Why", Anne Graham Lotz

RESULTS:
These books have changed my life as a single parent with adult children. I know the young women in our Flock will flourish even more with this information.
