When March arrives on the calendar we are ALL anxious to shed our winter coats so we can enjoy more of the outdoors that God has created for each of us.
I noticed the other day that our Hyacinth and Jonquil flowers were blooming thru the pile of leaves and I was so happy to see the beauty and aroma of one little flower. I got EXCITED. It also reminds me of a time as a little girl around 5 years old when my Mother was telling me about the Jonquil Flower as it typically comes out in March which my mother’s Birthday was in March and it was her Birth Flower and it meant “Love Me" and “Affection Returned”.
It seemed like the next day our neighbors had a border of Jonquils spring up in between our home and their home. Since it was my mothers favorite flower I took it upon myself to go pick every blooming Jonquil that was on that property line and anxiously went running into our home to give to my mother thinking she would be so happy and I would get “Affection Returned” Instantly after that I was scolded and spanked for picking those flowers. It confused me because just before that my mom was telling me how that was one of her favorite flowers and it meant “Affection Returned” She then explained to me that I can’t pick neighbors flowers without asking and I said I thought they were our flowers since they all were facing towards our home.
She said we are going to work thru this together to make it right so we walked over to the neighbors house and knocked on the door and I explained what I had done and ask her to forgive me and had the flowers in my hand. She said she was watching me the whole time I was picking the flowers and was wondering what I was doing and then she felt I was picking them for my mother so she decided not to say anything to me. At the door she said the Flowers are from the Lord to share and she said I want your mother to have those flowers because you love her so much to think of giving her flowers.
She also said I want you to remember in life we will all make mistakes and mess up, but if you see someone mess up try to help them resolve the problem and not judge them because of the mistakes. Look beyond and see how God would help that person or that situation so that God can be Glorified.
As Brothers and Sisters in the Lord we need to lift and help each other not stomp them down further as you never know when that can turn and you are the one that is down. In Matthew 7:1 it says “Judge Not less You Be Judged”.
