In 1976, Campus Crusade for Christ launched Family Ministry with the aim of preparing engaged staff members for marriage. Before long, the ministry recognized a need for solid marital resources to help not only these engaged couples, but also those staff who were already married. And because of that, the Weekend to Remember marriage conference was born.
Soon, community leaders and pastors found out about the seminars, and they expressed that it was exactly what every couple needs - the blueprints on how to build a strong home. Family Ministry, now FamilyLife, opened the Weekend to Remember to the public in 1978.
Ten years later, in 1988, Campus Crusade Canada (since renamed Power to Change) began hosting conferences. Beginning in Edmonton, AB with a video format, the conferences spread across Canada. Eventually the videos were replaced by live speaker couples. Twenty years later, tens of thousands of couples have attended FamilyLife Conferences in various locations around the nation.
FamilyLife offers a variety of one-day conferences for relationship and family building including Legacy Parenting, (held in churches or community centers), Single-Parenting (small groups or churches), Real Marriage (held in partnership with churches), and Next Level Marriage (hosted by businesses for their staff and/or clients).
